i commute VII

I commute. Another week without sun. Days look grey and sad, adding a melancholic mood to my images. Can’t wait for the blue sky to return. Though winter did not really showed up here, now it is enough. Spring, please coming back.

portrait of diana

You would not say it, but Diana works for a security firm. Normally I would associate the work she does with - tough looking - boys, not with a girl like her. I know, this is so stereotype kind of thinking of me, but so it is.

Anyway, due to her job, I did not expect her to agree on a portrait. Happily she did.

Frontal window light and two seconds exposure.

Bridal portrait: Emina

I really enjoy bridal sessions. Either with real brides, or with models. In both cases it gives me the opportunity to be creative and to play around. During the wedding this is sometimes not possible, but during a bridal shoot it is. Meet Emina, she’s a friend of a local bridal salon and decided she wanted to be a bride for one day :)

johnny pump

I hear you wondering… what the heck is a Johnny Pump. It’s the nickname the New York Fire Brigade gave to the hydrants in the street. It’s named after it’s inventor John Giraud. Fire hydrants, or Johnny pumps; I see them every day while driving to my work. Not only in the hills where I live, but also in town.

They are all the same, although, after a better look, they are not. A great reason to start documenting them. I start the series with the one with which I’m every time wondering who and why he has this colour …

The first image was taken one week earlier with the dp2q; the others after snowfall with the dp0q.

i commute VI

I commute. After my decision to shoot in colour, colours disappeared. It was a cold, dark, grey week and I only managed few images.

The dp2q has been replaced by the dp0q. For window view, I want to see it wide. Processing with on1 using LUT’s from lutify.

doors ‘n windows III

Neighbors. Once here lived neighbors. Now, there is no one left anymore. Gone, or died, who knows. The houses were empty before I came. Abandoned, slowly falling apart. There is a certain beauty in this, in how time erodes everything…

all shot with the dp2q and processed in ON1 using LUT’s from lutify.

i commute V

I commute. A follow up on last year’s, one month photographing my drive from and to work. The last session can be found here. Last year, processing was in moody black and white. Upcoming series will be in colour.

Images below are taken with the dp2q, which to me, for this series it is not wide enough; I never thought I would say that…

doors ‘n windows II

While walking around, working on my new series, I photographed a window I see on daily base. It’s one from the houses in my street which I need to pass. The house is falling apart; I don’t know who owns it, not who lived once in it…

portrait of gabrijela

I know Gabrijela for many years now. When I changed jobs within the firm, she was one of my employees. One of my favorite ones I should say. Honest, hard-working, always ready to help and she would always get the job done. When I moved places, within the firm, I took her with me, offering a better position and in the end, she ended up in the head-office. Well done.

That said, she was reluctant to get her portrait taken, but last week she finally agreed. And I’m happy, as the portrait is stunning.

Windowlight, reflector and two seconds exposure.
